My mom had me when she was 19 years old. I distinctly remember turning 19 and thinking how overwhelming the responsibility of a baby would be, and I came from a solid middle class background and was enrolled in college. When I learned about the mission of PHI, I thought about how if parenting as a teen seemed daunting to me, who had so many advantages, how would it be to these girls, who had none? PHI is working to transform the lives of these young women and their babies and to give them the same advantages I had as a teen. The focus on the individual needs of each resident creates the kind of nurturing environment where healing for these girls can begin. The continued support they offer to graduates of PHI through the alumni program ensures that these girls know they are never alone again. I'm proud to be a supporter of PHI for many years, and hope you will be one as well.
